The challenges in life..

Sometimes life drags you through patches of filth, moments when you feel completely dejected, tired and many times even broken. It always seems an eternity of pain and suffering where one can't even see a sign of hope or even imagine the situation being better.

Its always very hard, if not impossible for anyone else to understand such a position until they are in such a situation themselves.


Such distress can be caused by heartbreak, loss of a deeply loved one, loss of a great fortune or even a fall from grace (position of comfort, influence or safety).

This can not only be a down moment in life, but it could also be the all-defining moment. The worst moments in life will either literally break someone or build.

What is the effect of making rash choices?

From such a moment, the need for consolation very often and unfortunately leads to addictions that may permanently destroy a life. Some notorious ones include alcohol abuse and drug addictions. The worst of the situations may lead to suicidal thoughts and behaviours.

However, its important to understand how important you are to help conquer such situations.
Take a closer look at most of these unpleasant moments:
heartbreak, loss of a deeply loved one, loss of a great fortune or even a fall from grace (position of comfort, influence or safety) etc..

Most of them are associated with loss and and cause the loss of self worth. A loss of self worth causes the feeling of emptiness, the feeling that there is nothing more to live for.

BUT there is!
The common thing about all these situations is they leave one thing in isolation, YOU. You have nothing else left but yourself.

You are special, especially to yourself

It is extremely critical that everyone understands that not only do they play a part in other people's lives, but they are extremely important in their own lives.

You are important to your own life and well being.
Loss of self worth is the feeling of inadequacy to other people around you.
It should NOT reflect how you feel about yourself. You are enough.

If you are not going to be 'on your side' then who else would be?

It has become a cliché that you have to treat other people in the same manner you would want them to treat you.
In as much as the statement is true for healthy relationships with the surrounding people, it leaves out a crucial part. As an individual, you have to treat yourself first the way you want people to treat you.

Self respect

You want respect? The best place to start is putting respect to your own name. Acknowledge that you are a special in your own unique way.
See greatness in whatever you do. Respect yourself first; your body, your time or whatever that defines your personality.

An obvious yet very simple example is dress code. The way you carry yourself can significantly determine how you feel in the presence of other people. Some insecurities are triggered by nothing else but a poor self-represenation in dressing.

So many times just the way one dresses can either increase their confidence or do the opposite. That same energy, be it positive or negative always spreads to the people you encounter. On days you do not feel confident about your look there is a very good chance the environment won't feel good about you either.

With respect to the subject at hand, when the world turns its back on you, DONT feed yourself with the same dejection and loss. Rather, remember you have no one else to turn to in such dark moments but yourself.

Take some time to yourself, acknowledge the situation may no longer be favourable BUT do not break. You can rebuild yourself, even from the dust.

Emotions

Don't let emotions or grief take over. Rather, thrive to be in control of the situation. Feeling sad about yourself or substance abuse will never change the situation. Change can only start from yourself, after all, you are the only source of positivity left.

It is therefore always smart not to make immediate decisions after such a blow. Take a moment to let the dust settle, grab a steady frame of mind and then move on.

Realize potential and the good in you

To rebuild oneself, you have to see the good and potential in yourself. You can only become a king if you see a king in yourself. Kingship can not be attained by a peasant mindset.

Remember, the world can only end if you allow it to. Never make the world's perception dictate who you are, rather, announce your own identity.

You are special and very important to yourself that way. Always feel good about yourself and those around you will also see the good in you.
