The principle of imagination
The principle behind imagination really is a simple one;You have to perceive something within your mind first before you can achieve it or even attempt to. The greater one can perceive or aspire to become the higher you are likely to go.
It is impossible to feature in a future that you can not picture. You have to see it first within yourself to be able to achieve it.
Success is not magic. It is imagination, hard work and consistency.
A strong imagination fuels hope and desire. This in turn drive the will of consistency and hard work. When the imagination is strong enough, giving up is never an option. Neither can a few initial failures deter you from your dream.
Many scientists can testify of the thousands and trials and failures they encountered in their experiments before finally producing inventions that define the world as we know it today. All those that were not driven by their imaginations probably gave up and their inventions are still waiting to be unveiled.
As a cliché quote says:
If you aim for the stars and you are guaranteed to at least land on the moonThe lesson is self explanatory really, do not set a limit on your ambitions, that way you are guaranteed to reach further than you would with a set limit.
Even in school examinations, if your target was to get a distinction you obviously would not aim for the precise minimal mark required for a distinction. Instead, you would aim for 100% because it is almost inevitable to miss a few marks.
In the end, the bigger achiever is always that one with the bigger imagination. The further the imagination is stretched the more likely you are to be extraordinary.
The best thing about imagination is that it is not limited to gender, location and above all it is free! You do not have to answer to anyone about your imagination. So do not fear anyone or anything, imagine big.
When you imagine it is never about your size, but rather the sting in your punch. Think of cockroaches, as small as they are they can torment the whole house full of humans millions of times their size. Within days, insecticide will be on the top of your shopping list.
The smallest of creature in your house can make itself the top priority. This should show that impact is not merely in size but in implementation of your strategy.
Qualification is NOT imagination
Nowadays the principle behind education has been limited. Not only are people educated to increase manpower for an economy's growth but also to expand the industries through application of the acquired knowledge to bring imaginations into reality. The latter is implemented on a lower scale unfortunately.
Evidence of education should not be merely a job but the tangible results of application of the knowledge acquired. This could be within the work environment or completely independent ventures.
If you are educated but not imaginative then the certificate crippled your mind. You can't be a mere storage of facts. That is what libraries were build for!
Aspire to be more than just a storage unit of facts and let your facts drive your imagination into reality.
"The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination" - Albert EinsteinImagination promotes innovation.
Giving all due credit to the great imagination of building a computer, take a look at how innovation has built on the imagination. Personal computers have evolved in size from consuming a full room to being gadgets anyone can carry with them wherever they go.
Storage capacities have increased exponentially from several kilobytes to terabytes in a few decades. To some extent, advanced cellphones are now as good as computers.
Imagination gives you wings
Imagination helps you think beyond the ordinary. It gives you an ability to sense that what is seemingly impossible can be achieved.
Many inventions were at one time impossible and ridiculous to even picture but it took imaginative minds and innovative brains to make the impossible possible.
Picture living in the iron age chariot era. Surely the thought of a fuel powered, motor driven vehicle would have been utter nonsense.
Let alone going to the moon...who really would have envisioned such an 'impossible' task?
"A man who has no imagination has no wings" - Mohamed AliSpeaking of wings...
The Wright brothers, credited for the invention of the world's first successful airplane. They exhibit a brilliant balance of knowledge and imagination.
List of a few individuals whose imagination and innovation shook the world
There are multitude of references for individual and groups of people whose innovation or imagination contributed to the world as we know it today. Listing each and every one is as good as impossible.Below is just a drop in the ocean of individuals whose imagination or innovation spoke change.
Martin Luther King Jr
Most common is his "I have a dream" speech. MLK showed that imagination is not all about tangibles. His famous speech was all about how he imagined a world where all races could coexist without hate, prejudice and discrimination.Ferdinand Magellan
Traveled around the globe with the sole intention of reaching the eastern lands by going to the west!Crazy...only until the fleet of ships sprouted from the eastern side silhouetting against the sky.
Wright brothers
As mentioned earlier, these brothers were credited for the invention of the first successful airplane
Albert Einstein
Common for his contribution to the world of science, especially in physics. His most common contribution is arguably the theory of relativity.Simplified in humour by the quote:
"When courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red hot cylinder, a second seems like an hour. Thats relativity" - Albert Einstein
Sir Isaac Newton
Another father figure in the field of science. His common contributions were the formulation of the laws of motion as well as in calculus.Steve Jobs
Through innovation, is arguably a major contributor technological advancement with regards to personal computing. With apple becoming the first trillion dollar US company (August 2018), the numbers seem to agree as well. A master of innovation.Remember to share, follow and comment
